Amritsar, January 17 (Punjab Post Bureau) – PG Department of Mathematics, DAV College organized a lecture on “The Kakeya Needle Problem” on 17th January 2017 at Arsh auditorium in the college.

Prof Shobha Madaan, IISER, Mohali was the key Speaker during the event. She was formely a Professor at IIT, Kanpur. Students from Graduation and Post graduation classes of Mathematics department attended the lecture. Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar congratulated Prof R.k Jha, Head department of Mathematics and other staff members of the department for organizing such scholarly lectures for intellectual growth of students. He also added that such lectures help in clearing concepts and getting deeper knowledge about the subject.
While speaking on the occasion, Prof Shobha Madaan talked about the existence of numbers 1, 2, 3 and infinity, one to one correspondence between the sets, Bijective mapping, infinite sets and union of sets by giving practical examples. Prof Madan Mohan, Prof Meenu Aggarwal, Prof Ashu Vij, Prof Vikram, Prof Sheetal, Prof Manisha, Prof Sonia, Prof Kashish, Prof Heena, Prof Sofia, Prof Mandeep and Prof Kapil attended the lecture.
