Amritsar, January 24 (Punjab Post Bureau)- SAD-BJP joint candidate for Amritsar by-election Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today sought intervention of Sikh’s highest temporal seat Akal Takht into the `condemnable’ incident of distortion of Sikh slogan by Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu. He backed Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s recent assertion that Sidhu’s act amounts to `religious misconduct’ and Akal Takht must take suo motto note of the matter. Addressing various election rallies at village Bhagrian, Gurwali Gate, Ghanupur Kale, Ranjit Avenue and Lawrence Road, Chhina, who is considered arch rival of Sidhu made frontal attack on former MP for ignoring the constituency for long years. “Sidhu after winning the Lok sabha from here never returned to take care of the people of the area. He was always busy in the Mumbai TV shows and ignored the residents who voted him to be their representative in the parliament”, said Chhina.
He said now that he said, “Jab Tak Congress Bahal Na Karau, Sidhu Naam Na Kahau’. This is one of the most revered slogan in the Sikh philosophy usually attributed to Guru Gobind Singh. “By adding his name to the slogan and all for the political purposes, Sidhu has shown disrespect to the philosophy of the religion for which action must be taken against him”, said Chhina. He said that the SGPC President Kirpal Singh Badungar has already expressed his anguish over the issue. On the other hand Chhina sought support from the voters for February 4 Lok sabha polls slated along with the assembly elections in the state. He said that if he is voted to parliament he will raise the issues relating the farmers, border area development, infrastructure development and strengthening of the basic amenities and putting the `holy city’ of Amritsar on the international map of tourism, trade and commerce. He said he would not be like Sidhu who remained absent from the parliament and failed to raise the voice of the people at the right platform.
