Amritsar, February 9 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The students of DAV Public School , Lawrence Road , Amritsar conducted a special assembly on the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas ji and World Wetland Day. Guru Ravidas Ji was a North Indian mystic poet saint, social reformer and a spiritual figure. 
He taught removal of social divisions of caste and gender and promoted unity in the pursuit of personal spiritual freedom. He believed God resides in every human being and everybody has equal rights on this earth. His poems were included in the scripture Guru Granth Sahib. The assembly began with the recitation of shabad. The students narrated incidents from his life and read out his teachings that everybody is equal in all respects irrespective of caste, colour on belief.
The students also highlighted the value of wetlands, its beneficial aspects as well as to promote its conservation and use for enhancing the overall level of the human health, growth and development. They also enacted a role play to ensure positive and affirmative action for conservation of wetlands. Regional Director, Punjab Zone A Dr. Neelam Kamra and Manager of the school, Dr. Rajesh Kumar advised the students to draw inspiration from the teachings of Guru Ravidas and work for the welfare of the society. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school addressed the students that Guru Ravidas teachings are based on universal brotherhood and tolerance which should be followed and the students should strive to unite all humanity under the umbrella of common brotherhood.
