GNDU organized Free Physiotherapy Camp at village Mahlan

Amritsar, February 27 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The Department of Sports Medicine & Physiotherapy of Guru Nanak Dev University organized a One-Day Outreach Extension Activity (Free Physiotherapy Camp) under the XII Plan period at village ”Mahlan” near the University Campus. Villagers responded nicely showing intense interest to reach Baba Kehar Singh Gurudwara to get the Physiotherapy Check-up and treatment.

              As many as 132 patients were treated by the Physiotherapists of the department under the supervision of Head of the Department Prof. (Dr.) Shyamal Koley. Majority of the cases were of knee pain followed by back, shoulder and cervical. It was observed that due to lack of awareness towards the health and hygienic conditions of the villagers, the complications aggravated. Physiotherapists of the department even went to the house of the patients those who are unable to come to the camp due their physical immobilities. Apart from these, a door to door campaigning was made by the students of the department to provide general awareness about the benefits of physiotherapy in day to day life.
