Amritsar, Mar 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – National Science Day was celebrated in the DAV College to commemorate the invention of “Raman Effect” by Indian Physicist Sir CV Raman. He was awarded Noble Prize in physics for this discovery in the year 1930. The function was presided over by the college Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar. DR Ashish Gupta and Prof Nihita welcomed worthy principal for his presence for the event.
While speaking on occasion, He stressed upon the importance of celebrating the National Science day with a new theme every year. He motivated the students to dream and to think differently in order to make the “Science” for the betterment of day to day life of a common man. He highlighted the role of the students for nation Building as they are the big source of Knowledge and assests to our country. He also deliberated on the theme for this year i.e “Science and Technology for specially Abled Persons” and he advised students to understand the needs of especially abled persons and their moral responsibilities towards them. He also motivated students for their whole hearted participation in the various events like Declamation, Slogan Writing, Poster Making and Quiz in order to make this day a special one. Quiz was conducted by Prof Rajesh Mittu who created vibrant atmosphere during the event. More than 150 students participated in the events. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dr. Daizy Sharma, Administrator and Head Department of Botany, Dr. Rajni Khanna, Head Department of Zoology, Dr. Anita Mahajan, Head Department of Physics and Dr. Neeru Gupta, Head Department of Physics gave away the prizes to the winners of different events in the end. Dr. Rajni Bala, Prof Ravi Sharma, Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Prof JJ Mohindro, Dr. Ajay, Dr Narinder Arora, Prof. Amanjot Kaur, Dr. Neerja Kalia, Dr. Rajiv Arora, Dr. Raghu Raj, Dr. Vibha Chopra, Prof. Ekta, Prof. Mehak Khosla, and other members of teaching and non teaching were also present during the event.
