Workshop on Effective Classroom Management held at DAV Public School

Amritsar, March 21 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A one day Capacity Building Programme on Effective Classroom Management was held at DAV Public School Lawrence Road under the aegis of DAV CAE, DAV College  Managing Comittee and the able guidance  of Regional Director, Punjab Zone – A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam  Kamra . Eminent educationist and visionary scholar Dr. Rashmi Vij Principal Police DAV Public School PAP Campus Jalandhar was the resource person for the workshop. The Regional Director Punjab Zone – A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra who is the steering force in organising these workshops for the benefit of both the teachers and the students sent her blessings for the participants and motivated them to participate actively in the workshop for effectively handling the issues and challenges they come across in the class. As many as 180 teachers from the schools of Amritsar zone participated in the workshop. Mrs. Shabnam Handa Principal Police DAV Public School, and Mr. Paramjit Kumar Principal MKD DAV Public School, Neshtha Attari were also present in the workshop.

The workshop was very skilfully designed and the resource person discussed the importance of a properly managed class as disorder and chaos leads to poor learning . She stressed that as an educator, a teacher has to deal with so many different personalities from different backgrounds. So, it was very important for a teacher to have a peep into child psychology. She shared various methodologies for effective management in class through well designed presentations. The participants were given handouts and were engaged in many activities to comprehend and recognise the individual need of a child. The teachers also presented short role plays, simulating their class room issues and the ways in which a teacher can effectively manage them. The workshop was a success and an interactive one which aimed to enhance prosocial behaviour and increase student academic engagement.

Dr. Neera Sharm Principal of the school thanked the resource person for her time. She said that as teachers we do need effective tools to help us manage our class and make the subject interesting. She added that the workshop met all the challenges and will help to strengthen the teachers with the necessary means to handle their classes.
