BBK Dav College Women Holds 46th Convocation in its Golden Jubilee Year

Amritsar, March 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – BBK DAV College for Women held its 46th convocation to confer academic degrees on 1257 students from the batch of 2015-16. Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Secretary, University Grants Commission was the Chief Guest while Prof. Dr. R.K. Mahajan, Dean, College Development Council was the Guest of Honour for the grand event. PPN2503201703While presenting the college annual report, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia highlighted achievements of the college in academics, sports and cultural sphere. Dr. Walia congratulated the degree holders and exhorted them to follow the noble vedic path shown by Swami Dayananad Saraswati and Mahatma Hansraj. She further motivated them to make the most of the future opportunities by overcoming the challenges posed before them.

In his convocation address, Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu congratulated the young degree holders and said that BBK DAV College for Women stands tall as a provider of quality education, setting high standards not just in academia but also in sports and extra-curricular activities. He inspired the students not to follow the beaten path. He added that as students move ahead in life, they must not forget their responsibility towards parents, teachers and the environment around them. PPN2503201704Addressing the students, Prof. Dr. R. K. Mahajan said that BBK DAV College for Women is one of the best colleges of Guru Nanak Dev University. He felicitated the Principal, faculty and students of the college for taking the institution to new horizons of academic excellence. 1257 graduates and postgraduates from Arts, Commerce, Science, Journalism and Mass Communication, Economics, Computers, Multimedia and Design streams were awarded degrees on this occasion. College students presented a folk song as well as a mesmerising performance of the play Main Jeena Chahti Hoon. Sh. J.K. Luthra, Honorary Treasurer, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi and other members of the LMC, such as,  Advocate Vipan Bhasin, Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal, along with Sh. Bakshi Ram Arora, Mayor, Amritsar, showered their blessings on the students and wished them great success in the coming years. Sh. Sudershan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee presented a vote of thanks for the occasion, which was widely attended by members of Local Managing Committee, academicians, Arya Samaj members, and media persons of the city.
