Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Remembered with Reverence

Amritsar, March 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The students of DAV Public School Lawrence Road remembered Sh.Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi  with reverence. He was born on Oct 26, 1890 and breathed his last on March 25, 1931. His short life was a constant struggle against oppression and inhumanity. The students of the school informed the assembly about his awe inspiring life. PPN2503201705He described himself in these words which say it all about his personality, “I am a fighter against oppression and injustice, whether practised by bureaucrats, amenders, capitalists or those of high caste. May God give me strength to fight on till the last?” He was a journalist, leader of the Indian National Congress and an independence movement activist. He was an important figure in the non – co – operation movement and the freedom struggle of India. He is known for the founder – editor of the Hindi language newspaper ‘Pratap’ . In the year 1931, when the whole nation was in utter anguish against the British Government for the execution of Bhagat Singh & his comrades, Kanpur was burning in fire of communal riots and that riot took away a dearest son of the nation, Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi while trying to restore peace and saving innocent people.  The students paid homage to this fearless freedom fighter that fought both with pen and sword.

Regional Director, Punjab Zone – A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal DAV College Amritsar in their message said that the sacrifice of Ganesh  ShankarVidyarthi  cannot go vain. We must remember his views, ideas and spirit of nationalism and work together for the nation. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school while addressing the assembly said that his death demonstrated the selflessness he possessed for the nation. He dedicated his life in bringing about a revolution through his pen. She added that we must contribute in the progress of our nation in one way or the other and take inspiration from such leaders and walk on the path shown by them.
