DAV College paid a tribute to Shaheed Kanwar Ranbir Singh Gill, alumni of the college during an event organized by the college and attended by faculty and the family members of the matyr. Shaheed Kanwar Ranbir Singh Gill was born in the family of Mahant Iqbal Singh and Balwinder Kaur in year 1955. He has done his pre-medical studies from DAV College Amritsar in the year 1972-1973 and joined IPS in year 1982. Shaheed KRS Gill was assassinated in year 1987 in Patiala during militant attack while working with his co officer SSP Arvinder Brar. Martyrdom Anniversary of Kanwar Ranbir Singh Gill is commemorated on December 18 of every year.
Prof Laxmi Kanta Chawla former Health Minister of Punjab was the chief guest on this occasion who while addressing students appreciated the great deeds of Shaheed Kanwar Ranbir Singh Gill. She added that contributions of such great personalities should always be remembered and such memorial events organized in their memory is truly a great effort to keep their legacy and struggle alive with empathy. The family members of the Shaheed KRS Gill including his mother were also present on this occasion.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar paid tribute to Shaheed Kanwar Ranbir Singh Gill for his great contribution in protecting the honour of the country and while fighting militancy in Punjab. While addressing the gathering, he said that it is very proud moment for DAV College Amritsar that such courageous and bold personality is the Alumni of our College. He motivated students to learn lessons of sacrifice and dedication from the life of such great leaders so that they can face every struggle with firm determination.
Dr. Vishaw Bandhu, Vice Principal, Prof Ashma Walia, Registrar, Dr. Rajni Khanna, Administrator, Dr. Rajdavinder Kaur Randhawa, Dean CCA, Prof Amita Sharma, Bursar, Dr BB Yadav Staff Secretary, Prof Sunil Sachdeva, Prof Puneet Sharma, Prof Kamal Kishor., Prof R.K Jha, Prof Arif Nazir and other faculty members of the college were also present during the event.
