PHD Chamber of Commerce organizes workshop on e-way bill

Amritsar, Mar. 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Addressing an interactive workshop organised by the PHD PPN0103201806Chambers of Commerce in collaboration with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung(KAS); Focal Point Industrial Welfare Association, Amritsar; Food Processing Industries Association, Punjab;Textile Manufacturers Association, Amritsar here today at TMA hall, Amritsar, Ms. Rimneet Kaur, Deputy Resident Director, PHD Chamber said that with this bill coming into enforcement, the way has been paved for the traders for smooth and hassle free movement of goods in a transparent manner.

             While speaking on the occasion, CA Bhavesh Mahajan, Amritsar said implementation of nationwide e-way bill is most likely to be implemented from 1 April 2018 for inter-state movement of goods.  He further stated, an e-way bill will have to be generated for all movement of goods—within or outside a state—amounting to more than Rs 50,000 by prior online registration of the consignment. The supplier and the transporter can upload the details about the shipment and get a unique e-way bill number.

Adv. Pawan Pahwa, Partner, Panacea Legal Services, Chandigarh said E-way bill will not be needed in case of goods transported by a non-motorized conveyance and where the goods are being transported from the port, airport, air cargo complex and land customs station to an inland container depot or a container freight station for clearance by customs. In case of multiple consignments, transporter needs to generate a consolidated e-way bill. If goods are transferred from one vehicle to another then transporter would be required to generate a new e-way, he added.

 Earlier welcoming the participants, Shri Deepak Khanna, Vice President,TMA Amritsar said, for control over movement of goods and to bring uniformity across the States for seamless Inter-State movement of goods, a provision for e-way bill has been provided under GST Law. He further stated that under the new GST regime, the waybill is replaced by an e-way bill which aims at mitigating the problems caused by waybill compliance.

            Since it is a new rule introduced under GST, it is necessary for all consignors/consignees/transporters to be aware of the required compliance. Participants were apprised and updated on E-Way Bill working process, Insight of E-way bill portal; Registration under E-Way Bill and Procedures for generation of E-way bill during the session.

            Queries and various types of claims were discussed at length during the interactive question and answer session. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Jasdeep Singh Makkar from PHD Chamber, Amritsar Chapter. Around 60 business including Mr. Sundeep Khosla, President, Focal Point Industrial Welfare Association, Amritsar; Mr. Rakesh Thukral, President, Food Processing Industries Association, Punjab; Mr. Tarlok Chand Khanna, President, Textile Manufacturers Association, Amritsar and Industry delegates from in and around Amritsar region attended and benefited from the programme.
