Amritsar, 21 February (Jasbir Singh Saggu)- DAV Public School , Lawrence Road, Amritsar today observed Mother Tongue Day (Maa Boli Diwas) under the guidance of Principal Dr.Neera Sharma with full zeal and enthusiasm. The Punjabi faculty of the school presented a special morning assembly on this occasion. Dr. Darshan Deep ji , Head of Department Punjabi, DAV College, Amritsar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the day. While addressing the students, the Chief Guest informed them about the history of the Punjabi Language and traced its ancient roots. He also spoke about the contribution of the Sikh Gurus who enriched the language with their hymns (Bani) . He discussed the importance of mother tongue in ones life and advised the students to be proud of their language. He sang a melodious song paying tribute to the Punjabi language. Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school thanked the guest for taking out time and addressing the students. She presented the guest with a token of gratitude. She also stressed upon the importance of mother tongue and advised the students to take pride in speaking it.
