Exhorts GoGs to play a proactive role to provide relief in flood affected villages – T.S Shergill

Chandigarh, August 28 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Giving a clarion call to the Guardians of Governance PUNJ2808201904(GoGs) Lieutenant General (Retd.) T.S Shergill, Senior Advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister said that they should play a proactive role in providing relief to people in flood affected villages.He called upon them to ensure the hassle-free distribution of relief the material in the marooned villages.

Chairing a meeting with the GoGs at Shahkot (Jalandhar) and later at Makhu (Ferozepur) on Wednesday, Lieutenant General (Retd.) TS Shergill said that the state government under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is providing relief to the flood affected people. Besides ordering Special Girdawari for the crops, the district administrations have been directed to take all possible steps to provide succour to the flood ravaged people. Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill said that in this hour of crisis every Punjabi should come forward for helping the people in the marooned villages.

The Senior Advisor to the Chief Minister exhorted all the GoGs to participate in the relief operations being carried out by the district administrations. He said that this would be a true service of humanity as it would give much needed support to the people in overcoming the problems in post-flood period.

He said that the GoGs are the eyes and ears of the state government. Besides, ensuring transparency and accountability in the working of the government, they are duty bound to extend a helping hand to their fellow countrymen in this hour of distress.
