Directs payments within 72 hours to sugarcane cultivators
Chandigarh, Oct. 29 (Punjab Post Bureau) – “The cooperative sugar mills of the State would begin the crushing season 2019-20 after 10th November in accordance with the availability of the labour workforce for the harvesting of sugarcane.” This was disclosed here today by the Cooperation and Jails Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa in a press communique.
The minister said that directions have been issued to the General Managers of the Cooperative Sugar Mills to ensure the timely crushing of sugarcane and facilitate the sugarcane cultivators. The General Managers have been instructed that the trials of the plant and machinery be completed by the 1st of November, 2019 before the commencing of the crushing season 2019-20 and every cooperative sugar mill be prepared for beginning the crushing process by the 10th of November. The mills must also consider the factor of labour availability for sugarcane harvesting in their respective areas and start crushing season as per the need of the sugarcane cultivators after 10th November.
The minister further added that directions have also been given with regard to making adequate arrangements for making payments by the cooperative sugar mills to the sugarcane cultivators within 72 hours during the crushing season 2019-20 besides going in for the online mode for carrying out the whole process concerning supply of sugarcane and with regard to the calendar. Directions have also been given to provide all the requisite facilities to the sugarcane cultivators in the cane yard bringing their produce in the cooperative sugar mills.
