Amritsar December 23 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The four-week programme second online Faculty Induction
Programme organised by UGC-Human resource Development Centre was concluded here. As many as 38 teacher participants from varied subject disciplines including Chemistry, Economics, Management, Mathematics, Music, Physics, Physical Education, Punjabi, Social Sciences etc. This programme was conducted in the light of Gurudakshta guidelines.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu presided over the valedictory session. Dr. Rajbir Bhatti, course coordinator and deputy director welcomed the chief guest. Prof. Sandhu shared that during his tenure as Secretary UGC, he made ardent efforts to keep the HRDCs functioning. He said that the induction programmes serve as a platform for building lifelong friendships in addition to inculcating values to be good human beings and knowledge enhancement among teachers. He lamented that due to the pandemic in-person interaction which creates an emotional connectwas missing? However, GNDU is committed to the professional development of faculty and conducting these programmes in virtual mode since no other option was viable in view of the current scenario. Prof. Sandhu also expressed his hopefulness that the pandemic will subside, and we shall be able to conduct offline courses in the next session. He also appraised the house that GNDU had received funding of 3.5 crore for Faculty Development Component under RUSA scheme through Punjab government. GNDU will soon be establishing a recording studio, where lectures of eminent scholars will be recorded and made available to anyone who is interested. Director UGC-HRDC, Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig thanked the Vice Chancellor for his constant support and providing congenial atmosphere for making these courses possible. He expressed his keenness for the participants visit the campus in person once the situation improves.
Deliberations on various modules of Gurudakshta such as “Bringing excellence in teaching, teaching skills, ICT, Swayam, MOOC courses, e-Content development, research ethics, plagiarism, funding schemes, CAS guidelines of UGC, personal and emotional development, health and wellness, RTI act, academic integrity”etc. were delivered by several eminent scholars including Vice-Chancellors of National Law universities, Ex Vice-Chancellor ICT Mumbai, Ex- Vice Chancellor Central University of Punjab, Directors and deputy directors of ASC-VIT Vellore, HRDC Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi, Panjab university Chandigarh, faculty from IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, Central university of Tamil Nadu, University of Hyderabad, Controller Examinations GNDU and Director of Research GNDU etc.
