Adequate arrangements of gunny bags for wheat procurement in Punjab -Yashanjit Singh

Punjab government will procure 130 lakh MT during the season

Kapurthala, April 17 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Managing Director Punjab State Warehouse Corporation Mr. Yashanjit Singh said that Punjab has adequate quantity of bardana for the procurement of wheat and farmers and artiyas would not face any difficulty during the season.

                  Mr. Yashanjit Singh has been specially appointed by the Punjab Government to ensure smooth procurement of wheat in Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana, under which he reviewed the procurement of wheat in Kapurthala district today.

                 He also had a meeting with the District Managers of Procurement Agencies, District Food and Supply Controller Mrs. Geeta Bisambhu District Mandi Officer Mr. Arvinder Singh at District Administrative Complex.

               He said that it was estimated that 130 lakh metric tonnes of wheat would be procured by various agencies in Punjab for which arrangements have been made for bardana and storage.

               He inspected the procurement from all the procurement agencies as per the distribution of mandis. He said that the Punjab government would procure every grain of the farmers’ crop for which the procurement of wheat has been extended till May 30.

                 He also clarified that the Central Government had issued a notification that no land record was required for the procurement of wheat; hence the farmers were not required to submit land records copurs.

                  He asked the officers to visit the mandis regularly to solve every problem faced by farmers and artiyas. He also called for better coordination among all the agencies to further improve the overall procurement system.

                   Managing Director has also informed that 28 specials would be operational in Kapurthala district to solve the storage problem in some places. He also visited Kapurthala Dana Mandi and talked to the farmers and artiyas to have ground level information about the procurement.

                   He urged the farmers to bring the dry wheat so that they too would not face any difficulty in selling the crop.
