Rs.737.90 crore paid to farmers
Kapurthala, 13 May (Punjab Post Bureau) – Wheat procurement season in Kapurthala district has been completed in which 391711 MT of wheat has been procured as against 359971 metric tonnes of wheat procured during last season.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Deepti Uppal thanked the farmers, artiyas officials of the procurement agencies for their role in the procurement of wheat during the second wave of covid.
Out of total wheat procured so far 337722 MT of wheat has been lifted which constitutes 86% of the total procured wheat.
Deputy Commissioner has asked the officers of the concerned procurement agencies to clear the outstanding lifting as soon as possible.
She said that under direct payment of wheat procured Rs.737.90 crore has been deposited in the bank accounts of farmers. Total Rs.773 crore is to be paid to the farmers against the procured wheat out of which Rs.737.90 crore has already been paid.
Among the procuring agencies, Pungren procured 102377 MT, Markfed 101461 MT, PUNSUP 87106 MT, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation 55017 MT and FCI has procured 45592 MT.
Besides that 158 MT of wheat was procured by private buyers.
