“Gandhi as Pioneer of Peace” Lecture on 152nd Birth Anniversary of Mahatam Gandhi

Amritsar, October 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit II of Guru Nanak Dev University organised a lecture to commemorate the 152nd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, here today. The topic for the lecture was “Gandhi as Pioneer of Peace” which was delivered by Program Officer for NSS Unit II, GNDU, Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Head School of Social Sciences. A large number of students were present on this occasion.

            Prof. Kumar made the students aware about the idea of peace and non-violence propagated by Mahatma Gandhi. He also talked about how it is important for all of us to follow the teachings of Gandhiji in our day to day life for building harmony in the society.

            More than 100 students from various departments of the university attended the lecture as NSS Volunteers and shared their views. The lecture was followed by pledge taking and campus cleaning activity by the Volunteers. The volunteers pledged to dedicate their time for service of the society on regular basis. Following this, a march was carried out by the NSS volunteers in the campus for the purpose of cleanliness activity. The social distancing norms were properly followed and taken care of by wearing masks.
