Amritsar, Dec. 3 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The 9th edition of the State Event PHD-Punjab International Trade Expo, PHD-PITEX, being organized by the industry body PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the 7th consecutive year at the holy city of Amritsar from 4-8thDecember roll off tomorrow at Ranjit Avenue. Punjab is the Host State for the event.
This was shared by R.S Sachdeva, Co-Chairman, Punjab Committee, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry during a media interaction at Bachat Bhawan here today. Ravi Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar chaired the Press Conference. While addressing the media persons Bhagat said, “With the main thrust of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on boosting Indo-Pak bilateral trade manifold, and the efforts being put in to see that all 7500 items are allowed to be traded through Wagah route, Amritsar shall gain the most.
The city shall grow to be a “Services Hub” as increased trade would need supporting warehousing facilities, cold chain facilities, and host of services to cater to these.” “With the increase in Indo-Pak bilateral trade through Wagah route, Amritsar would benefit the most. The increased economic activity shall lead to the development of Warehousing Infrastructure, Cold Chains facilities, increase in transportation demands besides culminating into a chain reaction effect leading to generation of employment, especially in the services sector.” Sachdeva shared that delegations from 6 chambers of Pakistan are participating in the trade expo. 35 to 40 exhibitors are also participating apart from the delegations. The participating Chambers are Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jhelum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry are participating in the Trade Expo.
PHD Chamber, he said, shall host a Round Table Conference of the visiting chambers of Commerce and Industry from Pakistan and the representatives of Industry Associations and Chambers of the region on the second day of the expo. Apart from the exhibitors from India and Pakistan, exhibitors from Egypt, Thailand, Nepal, Korea, Afghanistan, are also participating, added Sachdeva.
Sachdeva shared that as a special drive, National Small Industries Corporation, NSIC is promoting the SC/ST segment of industrialists. NSIC provided upto 97% subsidy to these industry members to participate in the exhibition and showcase their products. Apart from NSIC, Ministry of MSMEs, Ministry of Textiles, NABARD, Coconut Development Board, Coffee Boiard, etc. are also supporting the event. Sharing the details of the mega event, Dalip Sharma, Regional Director, PHD Chamber informed, “More than 400 exhibitors are participating in the trade expo”, adding that the whole trade expo, being organized for the seventh consecutive year at Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar, is categorized into eleven dedicated pavilions namely IndoExpo/Travel/Tourism & Handicrafts; Punjab Auto Expo; Kitchen Expo/ConsumExpo/Hom Expo; Food & Farm Expo; Health Expo; Edu Expo; Tex Style; Brand Street, RealTex/Finance Expo and Globex/SAARC.
Besides the Pakistani Onyx Marble, Pakistani Fabric, Special Silk from Nepal, spices from Egypt, Afghan dry fruits, Handicrafts from Thailand are the special attractions this edition of PITEX. Sharma shared that all arrangements viz fire safety, toilets, food courts, drinking water, detailed security arrangements are in place for the smooth running of the show. Sharma shared that among important brands which are participating, are Norisys (electrical giant) Kajaria, ICI Dulux Paints, J K Cement, Gloob Decors, Eureka Forbes, Prestige, Godrej and Boyce Manufacturing company Ltd., Zydus, Wellness, Life Insurance Corporation, United India Insurance, Allahabad Bank, State Bank of India, Industrial Development Bank of India, DS Group- Catch Spices, Kabul Foods, Everest Spices, Bunge India Ltd., Daily Pure, Hero Cycles, Chevrolet, Renault India, International Tractors Ltd., Hyundai among others.
