Punjab BJP to initiate drugs awareness campaign, supports Modi’s stand on drugs

Amritsar, Dec. 15 (Dharmender Rataul) – Punjab Bhartiya Janata Party vice president Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today stated that the party was all set to launch a major awareness campaign on drugs issue in the state. He said on dictates from the party high command that comes in wake of the statement of Prime Minister Narendera Modi on drugs proliferation in the country, they will initiate the drive to ask youth to shun the drugs.He said the state of Punjab itself was in the  tight grip of the drugs addiction and they want that more concerted efforts must be made to control the spread of drugs which was playing havoc with the society’s order. Chhina said in a statement issued here that Modi was right when he pointed out that the youth in the country was falling trap into the vicious cycle of addiction. “The border state of Punjab is affected badly by the drugs addiction. We are part of the SAD-BJP government in state which is doing everything to control the increasing trend of the addiction. We want that more efforts are made by breaking the nexus of drugs smugglers in the state’’, said Chhina. We are planning to start the campaign that will aim the urban as well as rural areas to create an awareness about the drugs menace in the state. He asked Modi that the central authorities must come forward and help the state police department to check the smuggling of the drugs which is becoming a lucrative business in the state. “No doubt the central security and intelligence agencies should keep an eye on the drugs problem in the state. The youth is falling trap to the addiction which is ruining their lives’’, said Chhina
