“Khoob Ladi Mardaani’ -Inspires the Students of DAV Public School

Amritsar, May 11 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School , Lawrence Road, paid tribute to the valiant lady, Rani Laxmibai to commemorate Balidan Diwas on 18^th June.  The school organised a ‘Fancy Dress’ competition on the occasion and a play ‘Khoob Ladi Mardaani’ was presented by ‘Alfaj Theatre Group’ under the aegis of Rani Jhansi Social Society, Amritsar. National President BJP Ms.Laxmi Kanta Chawla,  Patron Rani Jhansi Social Society graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the day. Ms.Laxmi Kanta Chawla is the voice of empowered women today. This society has been set up under her meticulous guidance and supervision to promote patriotism among the students especially the girls. The society also aims to strengthen and motivate the girls to stand for themselves. The society has showcased this play, written and directed by Sh. Mandeep Ghai in different schools to enlighten the students about the selfless sacrifices made by this brave lady. The play portrayed the eventful life of Rani Jhansi, the embodiment of self – respect and heroism.

28 students of Std VII & VIII of the school participated a Fancy Dress competition.  The students, dressed as freedom fighters, who fought  for the nation and gave their lives for the country came alive on the stage as the audience witnessed Begun Hazrat Mahal, Tantia Tope, Sarojini Naidu,  Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Rani Jhansi etc walk right in front of them. Jasminder won the 1^st Prize,  Mohisha & Ananya Bhardwaj 2^nd Prize, Jasmine 3^rd Prize and  Aakarshit Consolation prize.

Honourable Ms.Laxmi Kanta Chawla congratulated the winners for their fabulous performance. She said that during the programme she could perceive the patriotic aura around and was happy to see students putting in their heart and soul into the characters. She added that she aimed to make every girl a Rani Jhansi, who stands for justice and is an embodiment of sacrifice and harmony. She  said that the dream of the perfect nation can only be fulfilled if we respect the women of the nation and give them the opportunity to grow and excel.

Regional Director Dr.Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road, and the Manager of the School Dr.Rajesh Kumar Principal DAV College, Hathi Gate praised the school for organising such programmes to sensitise the students about the sacrifice made by our freedom fighters.

Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school thanked Ms.Laxmi Kanta Chawla for her gracious presence and motivating the  students. She said that empowering the women in the society was the need of the hour and appreciated the efforts of the Rani Jhansi Social Society in promoting the rights of the girls.
