
Amritsar, Nov. 10 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The Diwali celebrations marked gaiety at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar . The auspicious festival of lights, when festivities are lined up one after the other, was charged with festive fervour symbolising triumph of good over evil. The students presented a role – play depicting the return of Lord Rama, the embodiment of truth and morality, after his victory over Ravana, who personifies evil. Through this presentation, the students reached out to everyone and gave the message of fighting the Ravana inside everyone and try to imbibe the ideals of Lord Rama. The students of the school also observed the day as the ‘Rishi Nirvan Divas’ . It was on this day that Maharishi Dayananda, the greatest reform of Hindusim and founder of Arya Samaj left his physical body. They also presented a role – play based on the spiritual journey of Swami Dayanand , when he first met his Guru, Swami Virjanand . He was one of the most illustrious discipline of Swami Virjanand. In his curiosity to attain spiritual enlightenment and answers to many unanswered questions, he reached Swami Virjanand and when questioned by the Guru that who he was, his answer that that was what he wanted to know, paved the way for his spiritual journey. They also depicted the scene when he was served a glass of milk containing pieces of glass at bedtime served by the cook at the palace of Maharaja Jodhpur under a conspiracy. The day when he left for his heavenly abode, coincided with the day of Diwali. The students remembered him for his tireless work for the political, religious and cultural emanicipation of the country. The students paid tribute to Swami ji by taking a pledge to carry on with his mission and vision. The students also observed the National Education Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first education minister of independent India. His contribution in establishing the education foundation in India is recognised by celebrating his birthday as ‘National Education Day’.
Regional Director , Amritsar Zone , Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra, Principal BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road, Amritsar and the Manager of the school Dr.Rajesh Kumar , Principal DAV College , Hathi Gate , Amritsar sent their best wishes for the teachers and the students. They advised the students to create awareness among the masses to celebrate Diwali in a green, clean and safe way with an atmosphere filled with the spirit of mirth, love and happiness.
Dr.Neera Sharma , Principal of the school , blessed the students on this day. She advised the students to follow Vedic values and inculcate Aryan Culture for a better living. She said that Swami Dayanand Saraswati believed that education could bring a change in the Indian Society, thus we must spread knowledge that enables us to destroy the Ravana inside us for the welfare of all humanity.
