Amritsar, Nov. 17 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The students of DAV Public School, Lawrence Road saluted the spirit of patriotism and nationalism by paying homage to Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha on his 100th death anniversary. The students sang patriotic songs and recited inspirational poems. S. Gurbinder Singh Bhatti, from Punjabi Faculty informed the students about the selfless sacrifices of the great freedom fighter. Through a self composed poem, he inspired the students to remember him for his contribution in the freedom struggle and imbibe the values of integrity and sincerity for the nation. A leading luminary of the Ghadar Party, Kartar Singh Sarabha was executed at Lahore in November 1915 for his role in the Ghadar Conspiracy in February 1915. The party’s slogan “Put at stake everything for the freedom of the country”, inspired many Indians to join the freedom movement. He was a symbol of bravery and sacrifice for many. Bhagat Singh, another great revolutionary of Indian freedom movement regarded him as his guru , friend and brother. The students took out a rally raising awareness about the sacrifice of Kartar Singh Sarabha who laid his life at a very young age for the freedom of the country. The aim of the rally was to invoke the feelings of selfless labour, honesty and love for the country.
Regional Director Amritsar Zone Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra, Principal BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road and the Manager of the school, Dr. Rajesh Kumar , Principal DAV College Hathi Gate asked the students to have feelings of reverence for those who gave their lives for the sake of the country. They said that true homage would be paid to them if we unite and fight against all evils in the society.
Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school, gave her best wishes to the students and advised them to take the legacy of the brave and courageous leaders like Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha ahead by pledging to stand for justice and contributing in the progress of the nation.
