Five hours Surgery held at The Corporate Hospital to take out 40 knives from the stomach of patient

Amritsar 19 Aug. (Punjab Post Bureau) –  A patient Jarnail Singh (Arbitrary Name), 42 Years  of age was admitted in The Corporate Hospital few days with complaint of pain abdomen and weakness. Ultrasound abdomen done which revealed growth (Cancer) in stomach. To confirm the diagnosis and to take biopsy, Endoscopy done which showed few metallic knives inside the stomach. CT Scan of abdomen done which showed multiple knives inside the stomach. Retrospective History asked from the patient who revealed that he has eaten few knives in last 2 months out of some mental illness. A team of Surgeons, Physicians and Critical Care Physicians made to tackle this problem. A major surgery planned for taking out these knives from the abdomen. Five hours Surgery done to take out 40 knives from the patient stomach. Team of Doctors headed by Dr. Jatinder Malhotra Managing Director, The Corporate Hospital, Dr. B.B Goyal General Surgeon, Medical Directors Dr. Rajinder Rajan, Dr. Arti Malhotra, Dr. Anita performed the surgery. Few knives were opened up, few were broken because of rust, few were lying closed. Lot of bleeding from the stomach was there because of injury by the knives. Total homeostasis done after removal of knives. Patient now is out of danger and is ready for discharge. In the last 20 years of practice this is the most dreadful surgery I have sees as told by Dr. Jatinder Malhotra.
