93rd National Workshop on “Radio Chemistry & Applications of Radioisotopes” held at DAV College

Amritsar, November 16 (Punjab Post Bureau)- PG Department of Physics and Electronics, DAV College Amritsar on the second day of the 93 rd National Workshop on “Radio chemistry and Applications of Radioisotopes” hosted a series of intellectual lectures. On the inaugural session on the first day of the workshop, Dr. T.S Banipal was the Chief Guest. He focused on the use of natural resources for power production. The main objective of this workshop is to popularize the beneficial aspects of nuclear sciences and applications of radioisotopes/radiations in science, technology, food, agriculture and health-care among the academic community.  Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar emphasized on the use of radio isotopes in the field of medicine and for diagnostics of cancerous tissues in the biological systems. Dr Rajesh Kumar, Convener of the workshop elaborated the use of radio isotopes in the field of agriculture in the terms of eliminating the soil fertility. On the first day intellectual lecture was delivered by eminent scholar Dr AVR Reddy. Dr PC Kalsi, and Dr RM Kadam also briefed about the event to the participants. Nearly 40 participants from various universities and colleges of India participated in the workshop.

On the second day, the event started with intellectual lecture by Mr Rahul Aggarwal, Scientist C, and BAARC. He explained various types of decays with uses of radiations for treatment of various diseases.  Moving with the second session the event observed lecture by Dr AVR Reddy on Interactions of radiations with matter. This lecture was in continuation of the first lecture and was very knowledgeable. The event observed a series of practicals sessions and the participants were divided into five groups to have hand on practice of various experiments.
