
Amritsar, 25 November (Punjab Post Bureau) – The valedictory session of 93rd BRNS-IANCAS National workshop on” Radiochemistry and Application of Radioisotopes” Organized by PG Department of Physics was held at DAV College, Amritsar. About 215 students from the schools from Tarantaran, Gurdaspur, Batala, Patti, Attari and Amritsar participated in the camp.
Prof. (Dr.) R.K Mahajan, Dean Colleges, GNDU, Amritsar was the chief Guest during the event. While speaking on the occasion, He emphasized on Collaboration with prestigious agencies named BARC for better channelization of research projects. He mentioned applications of various censors related to chemistry and mentioned utilization of nuclear energy for the benefit of mankind. He concluded his speech by congratulating the DAV College and Department of Physics.
This eight day workshop included various sessions on Nuclear Physics covering the topics like Nuclear Stability and Structure, Radioactivity, Nuclear Reactors etc. The sessions also covered production of radioisotopes and their uses in the field of Agriculture, Medicine, and Industry. This workshop enabled the people to appreciate the beneficial aspects of Nuclear Radiations.
President of IANCAS, Dr AVR Reddy briefed the participants on various activities of IANCAS to popularize the subject of Nuclear and Radio Chemistry by organizing workshop. Young scientist awards were given and thematic periodical bulletin was brought out during the event. The content of workshop aimed at providing hands on experience in using radioisotopes through simple resources in our country and we must adopt nuclear power as alternative for sustained development of our country. All the participants were awarded certificates during the valedictory session. At the end, Dr Neeru Gupta, Head Department of Physics presented vote of thanks to participants of workshop. During the workshop Dr Daisy Sharma, Dr Rajni Khanna, Dr Anita Mahajan, Dr Neeru Gupta, Dr Rajesh Kumar, Dr Ajay Kumar, Dr Narinder Arora, Dr Neerja Kalia, Dr Vibha Chopra, Prof Meetu Singh, Mr Shivani Mahajan, Prof Ekta Malhotra were also present.
