Guru Nanak Dev University organised seminar on Recent Trends for Ecorestoration

Amritsar, February 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Department of Zoology of Guru Nanak Dev University organised a UGC-SAP sponsored one day seminar on “Recent Trends for Ecorestoration”. Dr. Satwinder Kaur, Co-ordinator UGC-SAP accorded a warm welcome to the invited speakers and participants of the seminar. Dr. Avinash Kaur Nagpal, Dean Life Sciences presided over the function and discussed various issues related to environmental degradation and their impact on human health. Dr. Pooja Chadha introduced the speakers to the audience. In the pre lunch session, Prof. U.K. Sarkar from CIFRI, Calcutta highlighted the impact of climate change on fish and fisheries of India. This was followed by a talk on “Eutrophication and Waste Management” by Prof. B.D. Joshi from Gurukul Kangri Mahavidhalaya, Haridwar. In the post lunch session Prof. S.S. Hundal from PAU, Ludhiana delibrated on “Environmental issues and Food security”. Prof. Jagbir Singh from Panjabi University, Patiala also spoke on “Environmental degradation and its impact on life”. On this occasion Dr. Gurcharan Kaur, Dr. H.S. Saini, Dr. Anupam Kaur, Dr. Rajesh Kumari, Dr. Amarjeet Kaur, Dr. Amritpal Kaur, Dr. Sanehdeep Kaur and Dr. Puja Ohri were also present. The seminar was attended by students of the Faculty of Life Sciences. The deliberation concluded with formal vote of thanks by Prof. Arvinder Kaur, Head, Department of Zoology.
