209 students awarded degrees at Guru Teg Bahadur College’s Annual Convocation

Majithia Stresses on Girls Education for Civilized Society

 Amritsar, May 28 (Punjab Post Bureau) – At least 209 girl students were today conferred degrees at Shri Guru Tag Bhadhar College For Women (GTBCW) during the annual Convocation. The chief guest during the program, Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President Satyajit Singh Majithia stressed on girls’ education and emphasized on the need for introducing skill development courses to make youth `employable’.

            During his convocation address, he said that the traditional courses need a total revamp and professional degrees have to be encouraged as the main motive of the education is enable the students employable. “Believe in the almighty as this is the force that empowers us to face the challenges of the life. The aim of the education should also be job-oriented and skill-oriented courses”, said he congatulated the students to get graduate and post-graduate degrees.

            KCGC honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina batted for education for girls. “If the boy is educated only he is educated but if the girl gets education not only she but the entire family and even society gets education”, said Chhina adding that the girls are the future of  nation and they would go to serve the motherland and as education is a great leveler. “The education provides girls honourable place in the society as it makes them independent financial’’, added Chhina

            SGTBCW Principal Nanak Singh read the College’s annual progress report citing the achievements in academics, cultural activities and sports. He said that under the able leadership of KCGC management, the College was progressing day and night and new infrastructure is being planned to develop for the college. He also congratulated the students who got degrees and those who earned medals and accolades for their achievements in past year.
