Amritsar, June 7 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A “Seven-Day Short Term Course on Research Methodology was organized at the
UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 70 university and college teachers pertaining to a wide spectrum of disciplines from across the length and breadth of the country participated.
Prof. N.S. Tung, former Dean, Academic Affairs of the University was the Chief Guest. Prof. Tung in his valedictory address felicitated the participants on the successful completion of the Course and expressed the hope that the participants must have been definitely acquainted with the advanced skills in the domain of Research Methodology. Labelling it as a long continuous, arduous process, he made the participants aware about the dire need of regular upgradation of their expertise in this domain. Shedding light on the difference between the Research Methodology employed in Social Sciences and Natural Sciences, he suggested to conduct such courses separately for these disciplines in order to maximize the benefits of these courses for the participants. The authentic and genuine research in any domain needs to be carried out consonance with the requirements of the society at large, he concluded.
Prof. B.S. Mann, University Business School and the Coordinator summarized the contents of the Course. Prof. Kamaljit Singh Director UGC-Human Resource Development Centre in his welcome address enlightened the participants about the challenges being posed by the advent of the Information Technology in the present era. He asked the teachers to pull their socks up and to grapple these challenges in order to do full justice to their students. The participants of the Course expressed their deep gratitude to the entire team of the Centre and made a few fruitful suggestions. Earlier the Chief Guest was accorded a floral welcome by Prof. Kamaljit Singh, Prof. B.S. Mann and Dr. Mohan Kumar. In the end, certificates were given away to the successful participants. Dr. Mohan Kumar, Deputy Director proposed the vote of thanks.
