Amritsar, July 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Narcotics Control Bureau Amritsar has been arrested Accused Surjit Singh
by NCB officials after he conceded his involvement in cross border smuggling of Heroin and a case under NDPS Act has been registered.
Dr. Kaustubh Sharma IPS Zonal Director NCB said that NCB officials received an information from a reliable source that a person namely Surjit Singh S/o Pritam Singh R/o Village Malakpur, P.S Ramdas Teh-Ajnala, Amritsar (Punjab) is involved in drug trafficking, who has concealed a considerable quantity of Heroin buried in his agricultural field near his village and is planning to deliver the same to some other smuggler. In the early morning of 12.07.2017 NCB team under the Supervision of Sachin Gularya, Superintendent NCB Amritsar reached at the house of above mentioned Surjit Singh along with the Sarpanch of Malakpur village and both of them accompanied the NCB team to the agricultural field of Surjit Singh. On reaching the specific spot, Surjit Singh himself dug out a white polythene packet containing 00.345 Kg suspected Heroin, 01 country made pistol and 10 (Ten) 8 MM liverounds. Accused Surjit Singh has been arrested by NCB officials after he conceded his involvement in cross border smuggling of Heroin and a case under NDPS Act vide NCB Cr. No. 48/2017 dated 12.07.2017 has been registered. Further investigation to find out source of origin and final destination of the contraband is in progress. Apart of above, all seizures made by NCB, Amritsar Sub Zonal Office since 01 April, 2016 till date are as under :-

Many drugs smugglers/peddlers in Punjab are on the radar of the NCB, Amritsar and 21 drug smugglers have already been arrested by the NCB, Amritsar from 01 March, 2016 to till date.
