Production, DAV College Amritsar organized Creative Writing Contest “Excel Your Creative Skills” on August 12. This event was conducted in series of two sessions. Students of BJMC and BA MCVP participated during the event. During the first session, Munish Devgan, producer, Aaj Tak was the key speaker during the event. He briefed about importance of creative writing skills in field of journalism to students.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar gave floral welcome to the guest and he congratulated Prof Arif Nazir, department of MCVP and other faculty members of the department for organizing such events. He said that it is Honour for college to welcome alumni students of college as it is best way to enthusise the students. He added journalism is job of responsibility and media works as opinion builder and opinion molder for the public. He also emphasized on the fact that creative writing is base foundation to any story. He also stressed on importance of excellent communication and technical skills in order to excel in field of journalism.
Prof Arif Nazir, Head Department briefed about the achievements of Munish Devgan and he also explained about importance of creative writing. He also motivated students to inculcate these creative skills in them to become successful in Digital Media.
While speaking on occasion, Munish devgan stressed on need of creative writing skills in journalism. He showcased his short stories to make students clear about doubts in field of creative writing. He also told that today digital media is at boom and creative writing works as necessary tool to become successful. He also encouraged students to develop skill of regular news reading as good reading skills helps in developing good writing skills.
During the Second Session, creative writing contest was conducted in which students were provided different newspapers and the main task for students was to do analysis of various news stories and they were suppose to write letter to editors and send it on the spot to various newspaper organizations. Results for the best piece of writing will be judged on the basis of published letter to editor in various news papers in next two days.
Prof Sania Arora, Prof Vani Sharma, Prof Saundarya Kochar, Prof Roohi Sharma, Prof Ferry Bhatia and Prof Sehajpal Singh were also present during the event.
