Lions Club Amritsar Golden Temple honours Eminent Teachers

Amritsar, Sept 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – While celebrating Teachers Day here at Lions Bhawan, Lion Baljit Singh Jammu, Secretary of Lions Club Amritsar Golden Temple disclosed that five eminent teachers who have distinct contribution in the field of teaching and more than 20 other  teachers were honoured on this occasion. The five with distinctive contribution were Mr. Mithun Kumar, Master Ajit Singh, Mrs. Pearl Jasra, Dr. Amarjeet Kaur and Mrs. Hardeep Kaur.

Lion Sukhvinder Singh Narula President of the club formally declared the meeting and functions to start and welcomed the dignitaries. Lion Sukhjinder Singh read the Invocation of the club. This was followed by garlanding ceremony. Lion H. S. Walia, Function Chairman while welcoming the Star Guest Lion Hardeep Singh Kharka  paid his earnest tribute to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan an ideal teacher and former President of  India. He delivered his views about the role of teachers in modern time and importance of teacher’s day. According to him teachers are the role models of the society. He said value based education is more important than the formal education. In this pluralistic society their duty becomes more sensitive. He called upon the teaching community to be more faithful towards their duties. Teachers should always have passion to acquire the knowledge of latest technology and upgrade their knowledge,  he said.  Citations of teachers were read by different lion members and in the process each of them was awarded with a shawl and memento.

Distt. Chairman of Blood Donation Lion Hardeep Singh Kharka said teachers role in shaping the students’ future is very important. Teachers are important assets to the society. Other eminent teachers who were honoured with mementoes on the occasion were Jagjit Singh Nagpal, Mrs Surinder Kaur Nagpal, Lion N. S. Khurana, Mrs. Sukhraj Kaur Jammu,  Mrs. Bhupinder Kaur, Mrs. Gurvinder Kaur, Mrs Ashma  Walia , Mrs. Ranjit Kaur, Mrs. Satpal Kaur,  Sukhjinder Singh, Bhagwant Singh, Kanwardeep singh, Ranjit Singh and others. Master ceremony was performed by Lion Maninder Singh and Lion Jagmohan Singh Dua and vote of thanks was delivered by Lion J. S Nagpal.
