Amritsar, Sept.28 (Punjab Post Bureau) – All colleges affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University are our strength and
pride. If our colleges rise, we will subsequently rise. Any problem faced by colleges will be solved on priority basis as per the rules and regulations.
These views were expressed by Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu Vice Chancellor while presiding over the Meeting of Principals of the colleges affiliated t this University. Prof. Kamaljit Singh, Dean Academic Affairs and Prof. K.S Kahlon, Registrar were also present. Prof. R.K Mahajan, Dean College Development Council welcomed all. This meet was organized by College Development Council of the University in the Senate Hall with objective to review the development process, new courses and problems faced by the colleges. As many as 100 Principals of the affiliated colleges of the University participated.
Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu said that transparency would be observed while keeping in view the rules and regulations. He said that University is planning to launch various portals to facilitate students, colleges and the University. He said that e-transcript portal has already been launched and others are in pipe line. He further added that online reservation for University Guest Houses and University Holiday Home Dalhousie will be introduced soon. He said that University is planning a centralized evaluation Centre for the evaluation of answer sheets.
Vice Chancellor advised the Principals to send their proposals for starting new courses in their colleges well in advance, so that they could get approval before starting of admissions. He said that colleges in each district should collectively appoint a consultant for helping them to write research project and new funding proposals. A Centre for Data Analytics and Research has already been setup at University Campus with the objective to provide necessary support to the researchers and academicians of the University, in order to strengthen the analytical aspects of research which will empower the researcher to arrive at meaningful and robust conclusions. He said that a policy would be formed to encourage research in colleges. He said that the recommendations of inspection committee visiting college will also be placed on website.
He pointed out that the students due to shortage of attendance were some time denied admission to examination. In the new system, the teacher will enter the attendance of the student in the web portal at the end of every month, this portal is in place and teacher should enter the attendance of students by the October 15 cooperation of colleges was solicitated for its success. An SMS regarding the attendance will be sent the students as well as their parents.
All the principals hailed the decision of the Vice Chancellor unanimously and appreciated the transparency and the policy adopted by the University during the ongoing youth festivals of the University. An interaction session was also held after the meeting.
