Amritsar, Oct. 26 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Zonal Youth Festival of ‘C’ Zone was inaugurated here today in the Dasmesh Auditorium of Guru Nanak Dev University. These competitions are being organized simultaneously on Six different stages in the University Campus i.e. Dasmesh Auditorium, Guru Nanak Bhawan, Sangat Hall, College Bhawan Auditroium, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Bhawan Auditorium and Conference Hall. S. Rachhpal Singh, AIG Zonal Special Task Force formally inaugurated this festival by lighting the lamp. Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare welcomed the chief guest and others. She gave detail of the achievements of Youth Welfare Department.S. Rachhpal Singh said that cultural activities are essential part of our life and we should participate in these activities along with academic & other activities. The festival started with the competition of Bhangra. Around 750 Students-artists from 20 teams are participating in 34 items of Music, Theatre, Dance, Literary & Fine Arts. This festival would be conclude on October 29. Today, the festival was started with the competition of Bhangra. The items of Group Song Indian, Mimicry, Costume Exhibition, Group Shabad/Bhajan, Vaar Gyan, Kavishri, Painting, Cartooning, Poster Making, Photography, Collage, Clay Modeling and Installaton were organized.
On October 27, the items of Mime, Skit, One Act Play, Folk Orchestra, Classical Ins. Percussion, Geet/Gazal, Folk Song, Rangoli & Phulkari and on October 28 One Act Play, General Dance, Classical Inst. Non-Percussion, Classical Vocal, Quiz, Poetical Symposium, and Debate will be organized on different stages. Dr. Jagjit Kaur said that on the final day i.e.October 29, the items of Classical Dance, Western Group Song, Gidha, Western Vocal Solo and Allocution would be organized followed by prize distribution function.
