BBK DAV College for Women holds 48th Annual Awards Day

Amritsar, Nov. 16 (Punjab Post Bureau) – BBK DAV College for Women organised 48th Annual Awards Day to PPN1611201706felicitate the young achievers in the field of academics, cultural and extracurricular activities. Prof (Dr) T.S. Benipal, Dean College Development Council, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, was the Chief Guest for the occasion.

Welcoming the guests, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that it was a proud moment for the college to honour the students who have always performed and maintained merit positions in GNDU examinations and various extra-curricular activities, thus, making BBK DAV College for Women one of the top ranking women institutions of North India. Addressing the students, she said that awards give one the taste of success. She added that in the journey of life, one may stumble, but one should not give up; rather one should get up and move forward with full gusto.  She also presented the Annual Report highlighting college achievements in various arenas.

Prof. (Dr) T.S. Benipal said in his address that DAV institutions were established with a dream of literate India and BBK DAV College for Women is fulfilling this dream with commitment and dedication. He further added that the college has been working relentlessly for providing quality education in the state with an aim of holistic growth of its students.

Nearly 800 students were honoured on this day. Ms. Rajni Kaur was awarded with Late Smt. Saraswati Devi Award for excellence in academics as well as co-curricular activities and Ms. Simran Kaur was given Late Sh. A. S. Soni Award for All-rounder Best Student. It is pertinent to note that under its community service programme, BBK DAV College for Women has launched Kora Kagaz, a project to conserve paper and promote its reuse. Nearly 55 volunteers of the college participated in the project and, during the Annual Awards Day notebooks made of unused and recycled paper were distributed to the students of Nishkam Sewa School. As a part of the initiative of green environment, the College presented saplings to the guests and dignitaries.

College students enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing performance of Kalbelia dance. Also, a documentary Swachh Bahrat, Samridh Bharat was screened during the event. Sudershan Kapoor Chairman Local Managing Committee presented the vote of thanks and said that one must work hard as success is never handed on a platter.

DAV stalwarts Dr. V.P Lakhanpal, Sh. Charanjit Mahendru, Mohinderjit Singh along with Dr. H.S. Randhawa Former Director, Sports, GNDU, Dr. Neera Sharma Principal DAV Public School and Mrs. Iqbal Singh Bedi from Sartaj Group, were present on the occasion.
