Amritsar Dec. 11 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Guru Nanak Dev University in an important decision would involve meritorious students in their examinations in the process of syllabus amendment of their respective classes. The syndicate of the university has already accorded its approval to this decision. Guru Nanak Dev University will become the first University of the Country who involves students in the matters of syllabus. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu said that with this decision students would be benefitted at large and process of amending syllabus has already been started and would be implemented from next academic session. He said that earlier syllabus amendment was restricted to Head of departments and subject experts. Due to this many complicacies developed. But now before board of studies meetings, a meeting with meritorious students would be conducted in which students represent their views regarding syllabus. This decision is already hailed by academicians, institutions and employers of various organizations, similarly, to encourage and promote more quality research the syndicate has also accorded its approval to the decision for Ph.D scholars to appear before the panel of subject experts from any corner of the country instead limited to subject experts of the region.
