Now BJP Demands Direct Amritsar – Patna Flight, Write to Modi

Amritsar, Dec. 26 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Following the successful launch of the direct-Amritsar-Nanded flight, the BJP has up the ante to start a similar flight to Patna, thus linking the `holy city’ with the Bihar’s capital, which is a birth place of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, whose 351th birth anniversary is being celebrated. BJP state executive member Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today shot off a letter to PM Narendra Modi in this regard, requesting him to use his high office to facilitate such an air link at the earliest. In the letter to PM he thanked the Centre for initiating the direct Nanded flight which is a boon for the pilgrims. He said the Centre government has given a gift to Punjabis and the Sikhs in particular by accepting the long-pending demand for the direct Amritsar-Nanded flight. With the Amritsar-Patna flight the place of Guru’s birth will have direct air link with the mecca of the Sikhs, Amritsar. He said the new flight will give major relief for the pilgrims who wanted such a air connect between the two holy cities.

He said the NRI and pilgrims had been demanding the flight to one of the five Takhts and with Nanded now air-linked the remaining one Takht outside Punjab will also be in the easy reach of the pilgrims. The flight will give boost to religious tourism and and it will be a boon for the trade and commerce from Amritsar to Patna and North-East parts of the country. He further added that seeing strategic location of the city of Amritsar, more direct international flights should start from the `holy city’. This will provide impetus to the business and trade to the border region.

He said the NRIs had been demanding direct flights to various international destinations including Washington, San Francisco, London, Vancouver, Toronto, Melbourne and other important cities of the world. “I will also request Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju to take initiative in this regard to start more international flights from local Sri Guru Ram Das International Airport”, said he.
