Amritsar, Mar. 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) – ‘Khat Layi Shukriya’ play was presented at Art Gallery under the direction
of Director Sangeeta Gupta under the National Theater Festival organized by Indian Academy of Fine Arts in collabortion with North Zone cultural Centre Patiala.
Mrs. Tajinder Chhina Member of Governing Council was the Chief Guest and renowned Social worker Ms. Kamal Uppal visited as Guest of honour. Dr. Arvinder Singh Chamak Hony. Gen. Secretary stated that Khat layi shukriya is based on a story by Jasveer Rana. There is a deep symbolic message behind every action; all the names given to the characters are also symbolic. It is a love story between Reet and Kranti who managed to build a strong bond through the medium of letters. The gap between them develops when Kranti is introduced to the new technology of mobile phones. On the other hand Reet is not ready to accept the new change and tries to pull Kranti back to the traditional medium of communicating through letters. Mobile and Internet has many advantages but the disadvantages have turned to be way more. People have become very restless and alone. Our old Reets (Traditions) are thus getting broken at every level. Even though every new era is adverted by a Kranti (Revolution) but it cannot survive without our traditional values (Reets). It is necessary to keep ourselves connected to our Reets to keep us in a stable mindset. This is the message given in this play. There are four dream sequences which show us the effects of so called globalization. It is an experimental play. We hope it touches the hearts of the audience.
