47th Convocation of BBK DAV College for Women organized

Amritsar. Apr. 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) – 47th convocation of BBK DAV College for Women was organized to confer degrees on its 2016-17 batches of Graduates and Post Graduates.Dr. Raj Kumar Verka Amritsar West MLA graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Councillor Mrs. Neetu Tangri was the guest of honour for the momentous occasion.

Resenting a brief overview of the sterling achievements of the college in academics, sports and cultural arena, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia reiterated the resolve of the institution towards excellence in all aspects. She congratulated the proud degreeholders and exhorted them to carry forward the torch of lofty vedic values, academic excellence and professionalism and to enrich and enlighten the present & coming generations.

In his highly motivating convocation address, the Chief Guest of the day, Dr. Raj Kumar Verka, expressed his deep appreciation for DAV institutions. He lauded DAV schools, colleges and other institutions of India for producing men and women of high caliber, competence and commitment. While he bemoaned the miserable plight of the girl child, the down trodden and the elderly in our society, he called upon the degree holders to usher in a new world, free from the crippling social evils. Appreciating the great work being done by BBK DAV College towards the betterment of society, Dr. Raj Kumar Verka announced a grant of Rs 5 Lakhs for its developmental activities.

The graduates & post graduates who were awarded the degrees on the occasion were from as varied disciplines as English, Punjabi, Fine arts, Tourism & Travel Management, Multimedia, Journalism & Mass Communication, Commercial Art, Fashion Designing and Merchandising, Computer Science and Applications, Internet Studies, Commerce, Medical, Non-Medical, Bio –Tech, B.A. Hons. School (English), B.Voc Theatre, Stage Craft and Entertainment Technology.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion included LMC members, Dr. VP Lakhanpal, Mohinderjit Singh, Charanjit Rai Mohindru, and Principal of schools such as Mrs. Neera Sharma, Mr. Vipin, along with members of Arya Samaj Col. Ved Gupta and eminent citizens Mrs. Iqbal Kaur Bedi and Sh. Rajiv Sehgal. Sudershan Kapoor Chairman Local Managing Committee presented the vote of thanks and the function closed with the National Anthem.
