Om Parkash Soni inaugurated the ‘Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign’

Amritsar, May 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Cabinet Minister for School Education and Environment Om Parkash Soni today inaugurated the ‘Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign’  at Government Sen. Sec. School  Katra Safaid. Measles is a major childhood killer disease across the world whereas congenital rubella syndrome is responsible for irreversible birth defects. The Punjab chapter of this campaign shall cover 75 lakh children between the age of 9 months to 15 years.Sh. Soni congratulated the Government of India for launching one of the world’s largest vaccination campaigns against measles.Sh. Soni said that providing defense against such diseases shall strengthen the future generation of India. He said that this campaign is equivalent to enforcing the constitutional right of life. Replying to a media query about some deceptive social media posts against this campaign, Sh. Soni said that organization like WHO, UNICEF are at the helm of this campaign and parents should not get frightened from such hue and cry. The Minister appealed that the parents, teachers and the medical staff must give their 100% in making this campaign a success. Civil Surgeon Dr. Hardeep Singh Ghai was present during the inaugural function for this campaign.
