DAV Public School Pays Homage to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore

Amritsar, May 7 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Students of DAV Public School Lawrence Road paid homage to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on his birth anniversary today.  The special programme started with the students paying respect to the great poet, play writer, painter, musician, composer and above all an educator and sang inspirational songs.  The highlight of the day was his famous song ‘Ekta Chalo Re………’ and the poem ‘Where the Mind is Without Fear’. The students explored the life and works of this multi – talented humanist. Through the medium of art and literature, Gurudev had always encouraged mutual understanding, peace and brotherhood. He is also remembered for the composition of the National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ which was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India as the National Anthem on 24^th January 1950. This true patriot and literary genius was awarded Nobel Prize in 1913. The students reflected upon his works which have a universal appeal. They took a pledge to make India a country of his dreams where the head is always held high.

Regional Director Punjab Zone – A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school , Dr. Rajesh Kumar Principal  DAV College  Amritsar sent their blessings for the students on this occasion. They said that Gurudev was a great visionary and was in favour of education that enchanced knowledge and built strong foundation.

Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school while addressing the students said that it was time to reflect, innovate and be inspired by the vision of Gurudev.  She urged the teachers to take inspiration from his famous quote, ‘Don’t limit a child  to your own learning , for he was born in another time .’
