DAV College Students attended Media Festival ‘Talk Journalism 2018’ at Jaipur

Amritsar, August 21 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The group of 10 students from the Department of Mass Communication PPN2108201804& Video Production, DAV College Amritsar attended a 3-Day Media Festival ‘Talk Journalism 2018’ organised by Vox Media Foundation held at Jaipur, Rajasthan from 10th to 12th August 2018. The only college from the region, DAV College Amritsar students got a golden opportunity to participate in the mega event of media where the prominent faces such as Barkha Dutt, Subramanian Swamy, Anubhav Sinha along with others came at a single platform to talk about today’s media scenario.

            The students and a faculty member of the department were the delegates from the college who made their presence felt at the festival. The fest was packed with the talk shows and interactive sessions with the audience. Various interesting workshops and mini events were also held at Talk Journalism 2018 including a workshop by Google India, Unconference and Live Newsroom for aspiring journalists, and Lensbusters celebrating the spirit of photography.

Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar congratulated the students on their mega success and said, “These types of festivals are very important for the overall growth of the students as it gives them immense exposure of the media world.” The students also thanked Principal and the Head of the Department, Prof. Arif Nazir for giving them the opportunity to witness this mega event of Media.

Prof Arif Nazir, Head department of Mass Communication and Video Production said Talk Journalism was a great opportunity for both professionals such as reporters, editors and writers along with the students who are interested in following the path of media professionally.

 During the 3 day festival, students got number of opportunities to interact with the various media giants to know about the various aspects of the media and its working. The sessions were mainly based on the media scenario of today’s world, where the experts mainly talked about the media independence and the credibility of today’s journalism and how powerful the media can be if it remains unbiased & neutral.

In the session with senior journalist Barkha Dutt talked about her experiences of reporting from the war front, as what are the dangers & risks involved in reporting from the war front. Besides, students also got a chance to acquaint themselves with the new paradigms of Digital Media, and learned various techniques to make the maximum use of Digital Media in today’s world.
