Amritsar, Dec. 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Passport Office Amritsar feels pleasure in announcing that an initiative has
been taken by this office to help all those wives of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozpur, Fazilka, Faridkot and Sri Mukatsar Sahib Districts whose NRI husbands have deserted them. For this a separate unit has been set up in Regional Passport Office Ranjit Avenue Amritsar where the volunteers will guide the victims and help them in getting justice.
There are about 30,000 to 40,000 cases in Punjab where NRI husbands allured Punjabi girls on the pretext of taking them abroad on family visa. The married these girls stayed together for about less than one week to about more than 10 years and then flee abroad taking away huge amount and jewelry etc. from them. These wives are then sent out from her in-laws house and now they are residing with their parents, some of them with their children also. In most of the cases, they keep quite as they don’t find any way and waiting for their husbands to return but their wait have become endless.
Regional Passport Office Amritsar wants to help all such wives. In this regard one of the volunteers Ms. Rupinder Kaur has come forward to guide all such wives and help them to get justice. All the residents of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozpur, Faridkot, Fazilka and Sri Mukatsar Sahib Districts who have filed criminal cases against their absconding NRI husbands and the husbands have been declared Proclaimed offenders or summons have been issued against them by court should visit Regional Passport Office 110 Raj Towers Ranjit Avenue Amritsar. After going through the documents and case history, necessary action would be taken by Regional Passport Office Amritsar to impound the passport so that such absconding husbands should be forced to return to India. Recently, about 10 such passports have been impounded.
