Vajra Corps organized an army band show at Jandiala Guru

Jandiala Guru, Jan. 26 (Punjab Post -Hainderpal Singh) – Double Victory Brigade under the aegis of Vajra Corps PUNJ2601201901organized an army band show at Jandiala Guru in Amritsar District. In addition to Army personnel the display was witnessed by approx 600 local officials, civilians and school children. The very purpose of organizing the Army band concert was to spread awareness among local populace regarding work ethos, culture and tradition practiced by the Indian Army which symbolizes high moral values, morale, discipline and character of a soldier. Such events also help in instilling the spirit of patriotism among the citizens of the country. Army strongly believes that the nation derives its strength from its citizen having high spirit and strong character. Apart from closer interaction with local population event like band display help in motivating and inspiring the youth including school children in adopting soldering as their profession.

 The story of the Indian military band that we know today is related to the 300-year old history of the British Military Band. The Indian Military Band has its speciality in the tunes played on Hindustani and foreign Instruments composed in Indian War and Music traditions. Indian Military band masters played tunes from the folklore of Punjab and Rajasthan and also included popular patriotic tunes including Kadam Kadam Badhaye Jaa and Saare Jahan se Accha. The Indianisation of the military band began when British rule was over. Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal KM Cariappa confronted the challenge and laid down the foundation of the Military School of Music in Pachmarhi area of Madhya Pradesh in 1950.  Indian Army has a distinct identity in military music. The Indian Military Band has also trained many foreign bands which includes  Sri Lanka, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Fiji, Ghana, Kenya and Mauritius.

Due to scintillating performance by band of Brigade of the Guards the complete audience got mesmerised and were found cheering to their feet to boost the morale of the troops involved in Band Display.
