Soldiers Who Were Martyred at Pulwamam given Tribute by Keeping two-minute Silence

Amritsar, February 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) –  Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Sri Amritsar hosted PUNJ1902201908the prestigious 2nd National Post Graduage Meet (AMEICON – 2019). Under the guidance of Dr. A. P. Singh, Dean, Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Sri Amritsar the two-days-long National Conference on Emergency Medical Care – Back to Basic was organized jointly by Academy of Medical Evaluators & Interpreters-A National Society. Dr. Deep Narayan Sreevastava, Honorary Secretary, National Academy of Medical Sciences New Delhi Inaugurated the conference as Chief Guest.  Dr. Roop Singh, Chief Secretary, Shiromani Gurudawara Parbandak Committee, Sri Amritsar was the Guest of Honor.

Dr. Srivastava while speaking on the main theme of the conference Emergency Medical Care for Junior Residents said that when a person with an accident brought to the Emergency Department for treatment, doctors should provide emergency medical help to play key role in saving the life of that patient. He said that when a patient enters in a serious condition, the doctor has a very small amount of time to prepare for the treatment of a patient; the history of the patient’s illness is rare or not known at all. There is always a stress and high-pressure environment in the Emergency Department. Therefore, doctors should be encouraged continuously by training them so that they can fulfill their responsibilities better. He emphasized that doctors should collect their experience and research data of patient, so that the methods used for the treatment of emergency medical assistance can be made more advanced.

Further promoting the same subject Dr. B.C Roy awardee from various medical Institute like, AIIMS, SGPGI Lukhnow, PGI Rohtak, PGI Chandigarh, UCMS, Delhi, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, GMC Amritsar and many other Institutes said that sudden or un-natural death is a common occurrence in the Emergency Department. Where a Resident Doctor in the emergency department, has to save the patient’s life by providing emergency medical care, also the challenge to inform their relatives about the sudden and unexpected death of the patient should also be made part of their studies and research.

Dr. A.P. Singh Dean Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences said it is a unique academic feast focusing on Workshops, Hands on training & lectures on Emergency Medical Care for Junior Residents of medical institutes with focus on Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) by Medical Council of India, it becomes inadvertent that Post Graduates should be practically ready to give first hand care. Students from 23 different medical colleges of India participated in the quiz competition held to examine the wisdom of students, in which winning team was given prize money of Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh for the runner up team.  He said more than 600 delegates pan India from Punjab, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh registered for the conference. 42 soldiers who were martyred at Pulwamam were given the tribute by keeping a two-minute silence.

Offering more information, he said that Workshops on BLS/ACLS, Polytrauma Management, Arthroscopy training, Hands on training on Basics of Ventilation Central Venous Pressure monitoring, Percutaneous trachcotomy, Stapplers & Sutures, Examination of Nervous System were conducted workshops held in the University Campus. He said that the best part of National Post Graduate Meet 2019 was Polytrauma Management workshop. Six Doctors from AIIMS were here to conduct Live Cadaveric Workshop.

On this occasion Dr. Manjit Singh Uppal Director Principal Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Amandeep Singh, Deputy Registrar, Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Sri Amritsar, Dr. Ruchi Gupta Prof. & Head, Department of Anaesthesia, Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Sri Amritsar, Dr. Richa Ghay, Professor, Department of Physiology, Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Sri Amritsar, Doctors & faculty members from all the India and other vital personalities were present conducting the proceeding.
