Vigilance nabs clerk red handed for taking bribe

Chandigarh, July 18 (Punjab Post Bureau) –  State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a clerk Vijay Kumar posted in the Vigilance Bureau Bribeoffice of Civil Surgeon Gurdaspur red handed for accepting bribe of Rs.7000/-.

            Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Vijay Kumar, clerk was caught red handed on the complaint of Bachhiter Singh of village Chaudhriwal in Gurdaspur district. Giving details he said the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above named clerk was demanding bribe of Rs. 8000/- to make correction in the date of birth certificate of his niece but the deal was struck at Rs. 7000/-.

After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed with Rs. 7000/- and tainted money was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses.

 He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Amritsar and further investigation was under progress.
