Amritsar, Sept. 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) – 2nd National musculoskeletal congress 2014 under the aegis of musculoskeletal society India was inaugurated today at Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & research, Vallah. As many as 400 delegates from India & Abroad attended the congress. Dr. V.P. lakhanpal Past president IRIA (Indian radiological & Imaging association) , was the Chief guest. Dr. Kakarla Subarao president musculoskeletal society India, Dr. Geeta Sharma Director Principal, S. Joginder Singh Secretary SGRD Charitable Hospital Trust & Dr. B.S. Bhatia member Punjab Medical Council were the guests of Honour.
This function was organized for radiologists and PG students of various medical colleges of India. The conference focused on Musculoskeletal imaging and role of ultrasonography and MRI imaging in musculoskeletal disorders. Due to advancement in technology musculoskeletal imaging has become an important subspecialty of Radiodiagnosis. Musculoskeletal congress 2014 which was held at Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, in department of Radiodiagnosis under which workshop was held that provided training to the radiologists of Punjab and other states on Musculoskeletal. The patients who were suffereing from joint pain, now can be easily diagnosed and get proper treatment for which they used to go out of Punjab.
Dr. Geeta Sharma Director Principal of college welcomed the delegates. She gave a brief account of various achievements of the college and highlighted the facilities being provided to the patients. She also mentioned about the functioning of super specialty services with the help of state of the art equipment.
Dr. V.P. lakhanpal Past president IRIA addressed the gathering and wished success to the organizers. S. Joginder Singh Secretary and Dr. A.P. Singh Addl. Secretary SGRD Charitable Hospital Trust facilitated the organizers and offered hospitality for comfortable stay in this city of Golden Temple. Dr. B.S. Bhatia member Punjab Medical Council in his address highlighted various policies and programmes of the Punjab Medical Council and requested all the young radiologist to register with state medical council and follow the ethics of the medical profession.
Other dignitary who gave his good wishes on the occasion was Dr. Kakarla Subarao. He appreciated the support and guidance of the management of Institute for arranging this gala event, which is helping the postgraduate students and radiologists of India to be trained by experienced and trained teachers in the subject of radiology. He also appreciated the efforts of faculty of Department of Radiodiagnosis for arranging the event in this institute.
Dr. Mahesh Prakash Secretary Musculoskeltal society India conveyed his sincere thanks to the chief guest and other dignitaries and delegates for their gracious presence.

Srivastava (Lucknow), Dr. V.Vara Prasad (Vijaywada), Dr. Chidambaranathan, Dr. Javraj Givindraj (Chennai) and Dr. Ram Mohan Vadapalli (Hydrabad). All the faculty members from various specialties of the Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences Vallah, Amritsar were present on the occasion.
