Amritsar, Nov 27 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Department of sciences DAV College Amritsar on the valediction day of
the Science Camp ”Inspire” hosted a series of intellectual lectures in order to motivate the students towards the field of science. Innovation in Sciences Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is one of the innovative programs developed by the Department of Sciences and Technology of the Govt. of India. It is pertinent to mention here that the college has been granted ninth INSPIRE project from the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, New Delhi. Approximately about 242 students from 23 different schools from three districts of Punjab came to participate in the event.
This event was organized under supervision of Dr Rajesh Kumar, Principal DAV College, Dr. Rupinder Kaur Programme Coordinator and Dr. Ashish Gupta Asstt, Programme Coordinator. Principal Dr .Rajesh Kumar welcomed all the prestigious guests to the event.
Advocate Sudershaan Kapoor Chairman Local Managing Committee DAV poised the event with his presence in this auspicious occasion. Sartaj Singh Chahal, ADCP Amritsar was the chief guest during the event.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar said that it is important to inspire young people to be Science and Technology leaders, so that India can develop as the growth engine of the world. He added that the basic objective of Inspire is to attract talent to study science and take it as a carrier.
Sartaj Singh Chahal congratulated entire Inspire organizing committee for organizing such intellectual Camps for the students. He said that such events provide an opportunity to students to interact with the eminent scholars.
During the First session, Dr. Puspendu Kumar Das Professor and Chair Chemical Sciences Division Department of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore delivered a lecture on “The Joy of Learning”. He narrated to students about art of learning and how learning can be best pursued as a source of enjoyment in science. He also discussed about various methodologies of learning to students.
During the Second Session, Dr. Manish Gupta, Associate Professor, Mathematics Department, Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology, Bathinda. He delivered a lecture on ‘History of Mathematics and the Road Ahead’. He talked about journey and voyage of mathematics to students and its relevance in present scenario.
Event concluded with a valediction session in which Co-coordinator Dr. Ashish Gupta presented a report of the five day event. He briefly mentioned the details of the lectures delivered by the expertise on different subjects. Participants gave an active participation by giving their valuable feedback to the organizers of the event.
During the valedictory ceremony, certificates of participation were given to 242 students. The event folded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rupinder Kaur in which she thanked Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar and all the expertise present on the occasion. Dr. Ashish Gupta Assistant Programme Coordinator said that the event has been fruitful to the participants who have learned about the field of science from the expertise.
Prof. Meenu Aggarwal College Administrator, Dr. Parveen Thakur, Bursar, Dr. Ashish Gupta, Assistant Programme Coordinator, Dr. Daizy Sharma Convenor of the event, Prof R.K Jha, Dr. Rajni Khanna, Dr. Anita Mahajan, Prof. Sameer Kalia, Dr. Vikas Gupta and other members of science departments were also present during the occasion.
