DAV Public School Initiates Cleanliness Drive to mark Gandhi Jayanti

Amritsar, Sept. 30 (Punjab Post Bureau) -With the launch of ‘Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan’ by the Central Government , DAV. Public School , Lawrence Road , Amritsar   planned a massive Cleanliness drive on their campus and also in the city. While the focus was on cleaning the campus, awareness through lectures, poster making , slogan writing, poetry recitation etc was also spread. The teachers of the school initiated the Cleanliness drive on 29^th Sept, 2014 by brooming the school campus alsongwith the students . The Principal of the school also encouraged the teachers and the students to develop this habit as a routine. The school paid homage to the Father of the Nation by taking up the cleanliness drive in the school  classrooms, library, canteen, garden etc. On the second day of the Clealiness Mission, the teachers and students of the school cleaned the roads adjacent to the school and encouraged the people to take up this mission for healthy and hygienic living. The school team was joined by many local people who appreciated the efforts of the school for encouraging the value of cleanliness among the students. “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” was the message learnt by the  students who fondly learnt from janitors how to hold brooms and with interest cleaned a religious place situated near by. Students’ selfless efforts of cleaning the Green alongwith ground keepers was a worth seeing sight.  They learnt dignity of labour and appreciated the efforts of the people who work tirelessly to keep the surroundings  clean. Children took a  pledge to keep their surroundings clean and to keep garbage bags in  their vehicles to  avoid littering of roads. The message and values  learnt by the students at this tender age will go a long way in their life. Thanks to the Prime Minister for taking up this initiative. Enthusiastic students said that what they could not learn at home, they have learnt it at school .  Regional Director Amritsar Zone Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr.K.N. Kaul appreciated the efforts of the school to spread the message of clean surroundings through its mission. They added that this basic value needs to be inculcated among all for a Clean Nation.
Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school urged the students to be a part of this mission whole heartedly. She added that clean and green surroundings bring positivity and rejuvenates the soul for the day’s work. She further said that cleanliness should not be limited to physical cleanliness but the mind  should also be rid of all evil and hatred. Inculcating peace,  harmony and brotherhood is also  a part of this mission .
