Amritsar, Dec 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School Lawrence Road hosted a Capacity Building Programme on STEM Education organised by CBSE, Centre of Excellence and Chandigarh. Dr. Amitabh Sharma, CEO and Co – Founder: STEM Academy of USA and Ms. Mamata Trainer were the resource persons. Total 70 participants from Punjab region attended the workshop. Worthy Principal Dr. Neera Sharma welcomed the resource persons and the participants. While addressing the teachers she said that workshops are very important for professional development as they help in adapting and updating the content and methodology according to the need of the fast upgrading times. She added that such workshops foster a personal educational vision and provide knowledge and working skills in planning, creativity and innovation.
The main objective of the workshop was Building Brains, develop critical thinking, innovative mind set Beyond Books. It aimed at the constructive approach to develop a solid knowledge base among students and enhancing their interest in Science, Technology and Maths. It also provided an insight on how to strengthen students’ ability to integrate and apply knowledge and skills; nurture their creativity and problem solving skills. Resource persons provided with effective tools and strategies to create innovative and relevant learning environment for the students through experiential learning STEM pedagogy so rightly being emphasized by Niti Aayog, Ministry of HRD and CBSE etc.
The workshop was made interesting, enjoyable and effective by involving the participants in different activities and also through power point presentation and motivational videos.
On the whole the workshop was very enriching. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
Regional Officer Punjab Zone –A Dr. Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar in their message said that learning is a never ending process and such workshop help teachers to hone their teaching skills so that they can satisfy the curiosity of the enthusiastic learners.
