Amritsar, Jan 22 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A 3 day workshop on “Green Synthesis of Small Organic Molecules using Microwave Synthesizer” was conducted by Department of Chemistry, GNDU. The aim of the workshop was to train the undergraduate students about the eco-friendly ways to synthesize small organic molecules with biological relevance.
The workshop was conducted under of Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India under Star College Scheme so as to give the students of undergraduate classes exposure for advance research and synthetic techniques.
Five students from DAV College, Amritsar participated in this workshop where Assistant Prof. Dr. Vipan Kumar familiarized them with the role of microwaves in organic synthesis. The students were given hands on training on Microwave Synthesizer where they carried out different reactions and monitored their progress using standard synthetic strategies. The students were enthusiastic about the techniques they learnt and understood the technicalities of carrying out organic synthesis using green strategies. This would help them boost their careers in further strategies and research.
